Warriors PR noted Varejao was "diagnosed with a small lower back disc herniation" and miss the chance to play for his home country in Brazil even though he should be fine by the start of the 2016-17 NBA campaign.

The 12-year veteran continues to be plagued by the injury bug. In four of the past six seasons, he hasn't played in more than 31 games due to a variety of injuries that included face fractures and torn tendons in his ankle.
