Lakers Hand Warriors 6th Loss Of Season With Stunning 112-95 Victory

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off the biggest upset of the NBA season so far, beating the Golden State Warriors 112-95 to win for just the second time in their last 12 games. This is only Golden State's sixth loss of the season, snapping their seven-game win streak.

This game was the first game in NBA history where a team with a winning percentage over .900 faced off against a team with a winning percentage below .200, making this the biggest regular season upset in NBA history.

MVP frontrunner and the NBA's leading scorer Stephen Curry had undoubtedly his worst game of the season in this one, scoring just 18 points on dreadful 6/20 shooting, including just 1/10 from three-point range. Golden State's team as a whole had an off shooting night, going just 4/30 from the three-point line (13.3 percent) for the game.

Los Angeles threw several different defensive looks at the Warriors to keep their high-powered offense off-balance, heavily guarding the perimeter and leaving room open around the basket.

This was Lakers star Kobe Bryant's last career game against the Warriors, but it was second-year guard Jordan Clarkson who stole the show for Los Angeles, leading all scorers with 25 points. However, the difference in this game was the production of the Lakers' bench. Brandon Bass (13 points), Nick Young (13 points), and Marcelo Huertas (10 points) all scored in double figures. Rookie D'Angelo Russell also had a big night, putting up 21 points with five assists and four steals.

Golden State is still on pace to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' mark for best regular season record in NBA history (72-10). They are now 55-6, and the Bulls were 54-7 through 61 games. The Warriors' next game is tomorrow at home against the Orlando Magic.

Los Angeles will look to win back-to-back games for the first time in over a month when they host the Magic on Tuesday.
