Warriors Assistant GM Kirk Lacob On Golden State's New Arena

The Golden State Warriors have plans to build a new state-of-the-art arena when the move from Oakland to San Francisco in 2018, and while it looks spectacular, there are still many questions about it.

Assistant General Manager Kirk Lacob answered several of those during Chat Sports' Behind the Game Panel on Tuesday night. One of the more pressing topics was how the franchise plans to utilize technology in their new arena, given the San Francisco 49ers' pioneering efforts in their football stadium.

"We know technology will change a lot between now and when the stadium opens," Lacob explained. "There's a different experience from football to basketball, where they aren't a lot of stops in the game for people to look at their phones. We have to find delicate balance between how we deal with experience between being on phones and watching the games. The crowds at Oracle [Arena, Golden State's current home] are tremendous, and we don't want to lose that."

There have been rumors that the new arena might also be an effort lure an NHL team to San Francisco, but Lacob stressed that it is being designed specifically for basketball.
