Suns end Warriors winning streak; Curry Player of the Week

The Dubs fell to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday 97 – 107, ending their winning streak. With this loss, Golden State’s record dropped to 5-1— the last time the Warriors won the first 5 games in a season was 20 years ago.

Golden State was missing both Klay Thompson and David Lee during their match on Sunday. Thompson, who was out with a sprained right hand, is said to be back on the court on Tuesday when the Warriors play the San Antonio Spurs. Lee is said to be out for at least 2 weeks.

Leandro Barbosa started in place of Thompson, adding 12 points to Sunday’s game. Stephen Curry tried to keep the Warriors alive on Sunday night’s game but his 28 points weren’t enough.

Regardless of the loss, the “Baby-Faced Assassin” had a remarkable week. Curry was named the NBA Player of the Week for the Western Conference. Thompson, the other splash brother, was the NBA Player of the Week for the Western Conference last week. This is the first time that the Warriors have had two different players consecutively nab the Player of the Week award.

This past week, Curry averaged 30 points on 56.1 percent from the field, 4.7 three-pointers on 51.9 percent from the three-point range, 7.3 assists, and 6 rebounds. Curry has also gone 100% from the free-throw line during their three games last week.

The season thus far has been remarkable for these Warriors. They play the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday at 7:30pm and are expected to have Thompson back by then.
