Despite the Warriors Loss, Stephen Curry Shines Finishing with 54 Points

Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors fell to the New York Knicks 109-105. This was not any ordinary game for the Warriors. Prior to Wednesday's game, David Lee was suspended from the game and unable to enter the arena. This was due to the altercation that took place on Tuesday night during their game against the Indiana Pacers. It started when David Lee pushed Pacers’ center Roy Hibbert and was immediately shoved back. Curry and Thompson were both fined $35,000 for escalating the altercation. Due to this, the Warriors had to play David Lee’s former team without him.

It seemed like an unfair solution to have David Lee suspended from the game and arena for shoving another player and the Warriors showed how disgusted they were by the outcome during their game against the Knicks. Especially Stephen Curry. Wednesday night, Curry shot a career high of 54 points on 18-of-28 shooting. Curry also shot a franchise high of 11 three-pointers in one game.

With Curry's outstanding performance this sounds like enough to bring the Warriors to victory, but it wasn’t. During the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Warriors and Knicks were tied; but after JR Smith made a basket, the Warriors were unable to respond and ended up falling four points short.

Despite the fact that they lost, Curry had a fairy tale game. There are only 12 other players whom have been able to score 50 points or more at Madison Square Garden. Yes, they lost but Curry should be very proud of himself. He did as much as he could to bring this team to victory, it just was not enough tonight. The Warriors needed Lee tonight. He shouldn’t blame himself for their loss, but his absence made a large impact on the Warriors game.

Stephen Curry has shown that he truly is All-Star worthy. Everyone is most likely getting tired of hearing that but it's true. The coaches were absurd for not putting him on the roster. Luckily for Curry, he is young and with more experience he can only get better. As for the Warriors, tonight was a tough one, especially without one of their strongest players. Regardless of the outcome tonight, Stephen Curry – although not a flawless performance—shined.
