3 Potential Trade Targets For The Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have gotten off the best start in the NBA, holding the league's best record. However, the Western Conference has seven teams that are legitimate title contenders (and some have made trades to improve), so the Warriors may look to boost their roster. If so, who are they most likely to trade for?

John Henson, PF, Milwaukee Bucks

Henson would give Golden State another shot-blocker for the bench unit, and someone that could capably fill in when Lee and Bogut are hurt. Henson is 6’11″ and runs the floor extremely well, yet he’s been buried on Milwaukee’s bench as head coach Jason Kidd has favored smaller lineups. The Bucks are rebuilding, and Henson doesn’t seem to be part of that rebuild, making him expendable. Golden State could give up some future assets – along with their trade exception – to make Milwaukee a very appealing offer.

Greg Monroe, PF/C, Detroit Pistons

Monroe hasn't been willing to commit to the Pistons long-term, and with him set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season, Detroit could look to move him before the deadline.

Detroit is looking for help at point guard and on the wing, and probably won’t trade Monroe for just some future picks. They'll likely ask for someone like Harrison Barnes or Draymond Green in return, in which case the Warriors wouldn't make the move - but if Golden State is willing to give up two first round picks, this potential deal could have legs.

Jose Calderon, PG, New York Knicks

New York has made essentially everyone on their roster available for trade, meaning the Warriors could get Calderon without having to get up a lot. Golden State's backcourt rotation is fairly solid with Shaun Livingston and Justin Holiday, but they could use another veteran presence. He’s a pass-first point guard who has valuable experience, and could serve as a mentor to Golden State's young players.
