ATLANTA -- Jack MacFarlane of the men's tennis team is the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines, after helping the Panthers to an upset win at No. 27-ranked Florida State Sunday in Tallahassee, Fla.
The win over the Seminoles represents the second-highest ranked team that Georgia State has ever defeated and the highest since a 2007 victory over No. 23 Old Dominion.
Playing No. 6 six singles, MacFarlane won 8-6 in a second-set tie-breaker to down Terrell Whitehurst 6-2, 7-6 and give the Panthers the clinching point in the 4-2 win.
