STATESBORO, Ga. – Brett Barron matched the school record by firing a 63, including a 29 on his first nine holes, to help stake the Georgia Southern men's golf team to a lead at the Furman Intercollegiate after the first round Monday at Furman University Golf Course.

Barron is the sixth Eagle to shoot a 63 in school history and the first freshman to card the number. Scott Wolfes was the last Eagle to do it when he shot a 63 in the final round of the Wendy's Kiawah Classic at Turtle Point Golf Course in November of 2014.
