SEC wants to block Jim Harbaugh’s ‘spring in Florida’ plan

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey told CBSSports.com that the league is trying to make sure it doesn’t happen.

“Our primary reaction (is) that, in the face of the time-demand conversations, we’ve got one program taking what has been ‘free time’ away,” Sankey told CBSSports.com. “Let’s draw a line and say, ‘That’s not appropriate.’ ”

Currently, there is no rule prohibiting Michigan — or any school — from doing something like this. But Sankey tells CBSSports.com he’s encouraged that the NCAA Football Oversight Committee will look into this “as soon as possible.”

FBS players are given four weeks a year where they are allowed to take time to themselves.
