ATLANTA — For many, Pittsburgh running back James Conner has been a source of inspiration after battling cancer. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t in turn gain encouragement from others.
As Conner explained at the College Football Awards on Thursday, he drew encouragement from former Georgia and current Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley during his cancer battle.
Conner said a friendship blossomed between the two after Gurley reached out to him on Twitter.
“He actually reaches out to me pretty often,” Conner said. “He’ll ask me how I’m doing because we both had the knee injury.
