ATHENS, Ga. – Saturday’s scrimmage wasn’t just to get Georgia’s players ready for the September 3 season-opener against North Carolina. It also was an opportunity for the coaches to get into their game-day routine.

After the scrimmage, coach Kirby Smart said he and his coaches worked with their headsets; the goal was to iron out any potential kinks for the new staff.

“We sent the coaches up (to the press box) who would be up in the game,” Smart said. “We communicated signals and did everything like a normal (game day). So the guys were in the box who will be in the box and they stayed up in the box and communicated that way.
