Thunderbirds finally end skid; collect three points over the weekend

The Springfield Thunderbirds lost on Friday night to Bridgeport before finally ending its long losing streak on Saturday with an overtime win on home ice against Providence. Springfield (8-8-3-2) picked up another point on Sunday with a loss in the extra session to the revenge-minded Bruins in Providence.

Sound Tigers 3, Thunderbirds 1

Travis St. Denis and Tanner Fritz scored third period goals to give visiting Bridgeport a 3-1 win over Springfield. Colin Markleson opened the scoring 13:17 into the second period to the put the Sound Tigers on top. Mike Sgarbossa scored the Thunderbirds only goal 2:17 later, with the assists going to Paul Thompson and Shane Harper, to even the game.
