Bryan Murray, a longtime hockey executive and the general manager of the Florida Panthers during their 1996 Stanley Cup Final run, passed away Saturday at the age of 74.
In July 2014, the Senators website announced Murray was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment.
On November 13, 2014, Murray announced he had Stage 4 colon cancer which had spread to his liver and lungs.
Murray was the Panthers' second general manager, from 1994-2000, and he also coached the team for 59 games (17-31-11) during the 1997-98 season after firing Doug McLean.
Murray won 620 NHL games as a coach and was awarded the Jack Adams Award for coach of the year with the Washington Capitals in 1984.
