Florida Panthers Drop First Game Of Season In Shootout

The Florida Panthers headed to Tampa Bay for their first road game of the season against their instate rival, the Lightning.

In a matchup of the last two winners of the Atlantic division, both teams went back and forth with the game needing a shootout to decide the outcome, with the Lightning coming out in front by the final score of 4-3.

Mike Matheson registered his first career NHL goal, which was in line to be the game winner until Steven Stamkos struck with five seconds left to go in the third period.
