MIAMI (October 21, 2016) - The FIU volleyball team (7-15, 1-7 in C-USA) was defeated by Marshall (17-6, 6-2 in C-USA) on Friday night, 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-18, 26-24), falling to 1-7 in Conference USA play for the 2016 season.
The Panthers battled point-for-point in the first set, but fell five points shy of a win. Junior led the way with three kills. FIU outhit the Thundering Herd, .286-.258 and outblocked them 4-0. Five service aces for Marshall proved to be the difference in the initial set.
The second set was a game of runs, dominated by FIU's offense early.
