UF offensive lineman Fred Johnson has refined his skills

As a true freshman last season, Fred Johnson faced a steep learning curve on Florida's offensive line.

At 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Johnson arrived on campus with the size and strength of a starting tackle in the SEC. But playing on Saturdays in front of 90,000 people at the Division I level presented a new set of challenges.

“It was very scary at the start, out of the gate,” Johnson said. “New Mexico State then East Carolina, then we went to Kentucky, I started to get more accustomed to it … the adjustment is really just knowing the plays, knowing the footwork, knowing what's expected of you from the coaches.
