Joey Ivie’s injury means Florida’s backup DTs need to produce

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida will be without starting defensive tackle Joey Ivie for four to five weeks after he had surgery for a thumb injury.

Ivie, a senior, could be back for the game at Arkansas on November 5. In his absence, sophomores CeCe Jefferson, Khairi Clark and Taven Bryant will have to pick up their workloads.

Ivie is an important presence on the interior. While his stats are relatively modest – nine tackles, a half-sack, two quarterback hurries – he is a space-eater who occupies blockers and enables linebackers Jarrad Davis and Alex Anzalone to make plays.
