Florida Atlantic women’s basketball was unable to contain the University of Texas-San Antonio’s two leading scorers, resulting in a 97-66 loss on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio.
Senior Tesha Smith and junior Loryn Goodwin combined for 63 points, and together made more shots from the field (27) than the entire Owls roster (24). Smith finished with a career-high 41 points.
Freshman Katelyn O’Reilly led FAU (4-22, 0-16 Conference USA) with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
The Owls shot 40 percent from the field for the game, including 8-for-27 from beyond the three-point arc. On the other end, FAU allowed the Roadrunners to shoot 55 percent from the floor, and was outscored 60-24 in the paint.
