Florida Atlantic coach Charlie Partridge opened his weekly press conference by offering condolences to the Miami Marlins and people close to pitcher Jose Fernandez.
“On behalf of the program, I need to say this: condolences go to us from anyone that’s close to Jose Fernandez and anyone in the Miami Marlins organization,” Partridge said. “I can’t imagine what that would be like to lose a member of our football family. I just need to say that, on behalf of all of us, our sincere condolences go out.”
Fernandez was one of three people killed Sunday morning in a boating accident in Miami Beach.
