Baseball: Early six-run push by Miami too much for FAU in weeknight loss

The Owls had their four-game winning streak broken in the second-to-last tilt with the Hurricanes.

An offensive outpouring by the University of Miami Hurricanes against Florida Atlantic baseball’s pitching doomed the Owls from making a comeback attempt, as they fell 7-5 in Coral Gables on Wednesday.

The Hurricanes (9-11, 3-3 ACC) tacked on six runs in the first two innings, starting with three two-out RBI singles by right fielder Michael Burns, shortstop Brandon Gali and third baseman Edgar Michelangeli in the first. The other three came on a two-run home run by centerfielder Carl Chester and a solo home run by catcher Joe Gomez in the second inning.
