With the 114th pick in April’s draft, the Washington Redskins took Samaje Perine out of Oklahoma. To this point, the rookie has spent his professional career behind Robert Kelley on the depth chart.
Perine has shown that he can run with power in practice. This was something he often displayed as a Sooner. However, it was reported that the running back still needs to learn to be more consistent in protection. Per ESPN’s John Keim, his coaches say he is still thinking too much with the ball, specifically when trying to get by a defender. Perine has had a difficult time deciding when to juke the defender versus running him over — his favorite practice.
