Fantasy Football QB Rankings: Week 5

It's a deep quarterback crop this year, which means there are plenty of QBs you can rely on each week. To figure out which one to play, follow my rankings. Only two teams are on bye, and the two QBs that are off probably weren't going to start for you anyway. I only list the top 20, because unless you play in a two-QB league, you likely won't need to worry about anyone else.

Byes: Miami Dolphins & Oakland Raiders

Last Update: Oct. 2

Other Rankings: QB, RB, WR, TE, DEF

Rank & Player Opponent Notes
1. Peyton Manning, DEN ARI Welcome back to the top of the rankings Mr. Manning.
2. Andrew Luck, IND BAL Luck is having a monster year so far. Keep playing him.
3. Drew Brees, NO TB Brees is better at home and has a good matchup.
4. Aaron Rodgers, GB MIN Rodgers is coming off a nice week and is always worth starting.
5. Phillip Rivers, SD NYJ Rivers has been on fire this season and has a solid matchup.
6. Matt Stafford, DET BUF Even without Calvin Johnson (for the most part) last week, Stafford played well.
7. Matt Ryan, ATL @NYG Aside from one tough week against the Bengals, Ryan has given you no reason to sit him.
8. Jay Cutler, CHI @CAR Cutler has been playing well this season. I'm not that high on the Panthers pass defense.
9. Ben Roethlisberger, PIT @JAC This is a great matchup for Big Ben.
10. Colin Kaepernick, SF KC Kaepernick has been great on the ground this year, making him worth starting.
11. Nick Foles, PHI STL Foles was terrible last week, but he should be better.
12. Russell Wilson, SEA @WAS Wilson could go off against the Redskins, but the Seahawks could be up by too much too early.
13. Cam Newton, CAR CHI This is a good matchup, but Newton hasn't put up great stats this season.
14. Tony Romo, DAL HOU You can get by with starting Romo.
15. Eli Manning, NYG  ATL Eli is a fast riser because he's looked great lately.
16. Andy Dalton, CIN @NE Dalton isn't a terrible fantasy QB, but if you're starting him, something has gone wrong for your team.
17. Carson Palmer, ARI KC I'm not sure if Palmer plays, but even if he does he should stay on your bench.
18. Joe Flacco, BAL @IND Flacco has a decent matchup, but he really shouldn't be starting for you.
19. Tom Brady, NE  CIN Brady's been terrible, so don't start him. But don't cut him either.
20. Alex Smith, KC @SF Smith is a backup and playing the 49ers won't help.
21. Kirk Cousins, WAS SEA The only reason Cousins made this list is so I can ask that we stop with the 'Cousins-is-better-than-RGIII-garbage' now.
