Gerard Deulofeu put his celebrations on hold while the match official in Spain's win over France on Tuesday spoke with the Video Referee. When Felix Zwayer finally gave the goal Deulofeu was mobbed by team-mates having scored on only his second appearance, and first since his 2014 debut.
Deulofeu knows all about waiting. At 23 his signing for FC Barcelona as a nine-year-old seems like a lifetime ago. But it may be that after several false starts his first Spain goal becomes the springboard to really launch his career.
