Announced this week the Ivan Hlinka tournament will be hosted in Edmonton in 2018, 2020 and 2022. A couple of months ago it was speculated that the tournament was on the move to Canada which is exciting for the city of Edmonton. It is the only best-on-best tournament for the U18 category.
What does this mean for Edmonton
The city will now highlight the best hockey players in the world under the age of 18 in a showcase tournament that use to garner very little attention. Most of the hockey world focuses on the under-20 tournament as it showc ases players that are about to be drafted or have already been drafted by NHL teams.
