Calgary acquired Michael Stone from Arizona Monday, sending draft picks back the other way. While Stone is a big defender who does a good job of blocking shots and making checks, Edmonton was wise to pass on him.
Coyotes general manager John Chayka justified the trade as having to deal with Stone’s recovery. He was injured last season, but the Coyotes signed him to a one-year extension to see if he could return to his full potential.
In 45 games this season, Stone has one goal and nine points, and is a minus-5.
