Edmonton Oilers Nail Yakupov Injured vs. Hurricanes

Edmonton Oilers winger Nail Yakupov was injured in the team’s 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. Right off the draw, the linesman apparently tripped over the stick, causing him to fall backward. And when he fell, the referee fell right onto Yakupov’s leg, who then went down.

Yakupov appeared to be injured and could not get off the ice under his own power. He was helped off by Mark Letestu and an Oilers trainer. The winger could not put much pressure on his leg, and in the starting minutes of the third period, it was announced that he would not be returning to the game.
