After the Pirates were blanked by NC State Thursday, head coach Rob Donnenwirth told his team that in their next three games, the Pirates will win all three. Dropping to 2-5 after Thursday’s loss, the Pirates need those wins to reach .500.
ECU accomplished the first leg of its goal Sunday, after ending on the upside of a 3-2 match.
After a foul by Charlotte in its own box on Courtney Cash, Spitler connected on a penalty kick to the bottom left corner to put ECU up 1-0 in the 11th minute. The goal put her behind Kendall Frey for fifth most all-time.
