The Pirates started the game hot going on a seven to zero run in the first seven minutes of the game. The Knights went on a 23-8 run to finish out the half to go into the break with the score at 23-15.
UCF jumped out on ECU in the first ten minutes of the second half, leading as much as 15 points. With six minutes left and the score at 39-22 ECU looked to make a comeback by connecting some big three pointers.
The Pirates came within two points with nine seconds left in the game, but were forced to foul senior guard Matt Williams, who only converted one of his free throw to set the score at 48-45.
