GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Freshman Sophia Parvizi-Wayne, a member of the Duke women’s cross country team, garnered the first ACC Freshman of the Week honor of her college career, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Parvizi-Wayne made a statement in her college debut at the Roy Griak Invitational, crossing the finish in 18th place while clocking a time of 22:16.8 over the six-kilometer Les Bolstad Golf Course. The London, England, native helped guide the Blue Devils to a 14th-place finish, ahead of 17th-ranked Iowa State. Parvizi-Wayne served as the competition’s third freshman finisher in a field that included nine nationally ranked programs.
