Kyrie Irving’s time in Cleveland, if it’s not over, is at least strained: word came out Friday that Irving had asked Cleveland to trade him, apparently because he wants to be a franchise guy and no longer wants to be in the shadow of teammate LeBron James.
This has not gone over well in Cleveland. Check out the responses:
Everyone has their own priorities and none of us are in position to know what he’s dealing with. Still, it’s hard to imagine walking away from potential championships.
Then again, if James is looking around, you could look at this one or two ways: first, that Cleveland is about to enter into a potentially epic meltdown, and second, that if he sticks around he would be the franchise guy.
