Tigers-White Sox suspended after 8 innings

The scenario played out much like Thursday's rain-shortened Tigers win. In Saturday's case, however, the game was tied thanks to Nick Castellanos' RBI single in the eighth, bringing Detroit back from what was once a 3-1 deficit.

Storms were approaching as Shane Greene worked the bottom of the eighth, and heavy rain started as Greene retired Tyler Saladino to strand the go-ahead run in scoring position.

The umpiring crew, knowing the rain wasn't going to let up anytime soon, initially hoped to play through, sending the White Sox and closer David Robertson -- who came on for the final out in the top of the eighth -- back out to the field to warm up for the top of the ninth.
