Tigers sweep Sox, Cabrera hits late homer

Boston – How sweep it was for the Tigers.

Miguel Cabrera rammed a Brad Ziegler sinker high over the right-field bullpen with two gone in the Tigers’ half of the ninth Wednesday to send the Tigers home to Detroit with a 4-3 victory and a rare three-game sweep of the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Cabrera’s home run was his 21st of the season and his second opposite-field bomb of the series. He hit Wednesday’s blast against Ziegler, who was pitching the ninth, a frame normally worked by Craig Kimbrel, who is on the disabled list.
