Tigers’ Machado ready to swing for the majors

Infielder Dixon Machado is focusing on the things he can control, like what he does in the batter’s box before he takes a swing.

Machado, 23, made his major league debut last season for the Tigers. He hit .235 in 24 games. He also hit .261 with 22 doubles and 15 stolen bases in 127 games at Triple-A Toledo.

“I just gotta go out there and do my best and let them decide what they want to do with me, simple as that,” Machado said. “I just gotta keep working hard and wait for my moment.”

Machado isn’t just waiting for an opportunity, though.
