We’ve talked plenty this offseason about what the Tigers might trade away. At some point this winter, the Tigers will have to focus on the team they have, including a center fielder. That time to figure out center isn’t here yet, but the Tigers are evaluating the market, including new free agent Ben Revere.
The Nationals nontendered the 28-year-old Revere last week. The former Tigers nemesis from his Minnesota Twins days fits the profile of what the Tigers would like in center field, providing a left-handed bat with speed and no long-term contract. He could serve the role of placeholder, giving the Tigers time until JaCoby Jones is ready to take over while Revere re-establishes his value after an injury-plagued 2016 season.
