Newcomer Jim Adduci stars, Tigers bash Twins

Minneapolis – Jim Adduci knows how to make an entrance.

His flight from Allentown, Pa., didn’t get him to Minneapolis until after 11 a.m. Central time Sunday and by the time he got to Target Field, he had about an hour to get himself ready to play.

No matter. Adduci, the 31-year-old journeyman outfielder called up to replace JaCoby Jones, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list, had himself an afternoon.

In his first big league game since 2014, he swatted a single off third baseman Miguel Sano’s glove in the second inning and then poked a two-run double in a five-run third inning, helping the Tigers beat the Twins 13-4 and take the weekend series.
