BOSTON – Rookie right-hander Michael Fulmer didn’t get his 10th win, but the Detroit Tigers got the sweep against the Boston Red Sox.
Fulmer gave up a game-tying, two-out RBI triple to Mookie Betts in the eighth inning. But Miguel Cabrera hit a two-out solo home run to right in the ninth inning to give the Tigers a 4-3 lead.
The Tigers held on to that lead to win and complete the three-game sweep at Fenway Park.
Left-handed pitcher Justin Wilson was called on to pitch the ninth for the Tigers against Xander Bogaerts, who had already homered, and lefties David Ortiz and Jackie Bradley Jr.
