McClendon looks to impact youth as new Mud Hens manager

TOLEDO – Lloyd McClendon has seen a lot of baseball, and next season he will be watching from the dugout as a number of Tigers prospects try to make the biggest jump of their careers from Triple-A to the major leagues.

But it's not just those up-and-coming prospects that the Tigers feel will benefit from McClendon's baseball experience.

"You got the prospect that's coming up that needs to be finished off," said Tigers vice president of player development Dave Littlefield, "but also the guy coming down, disgruntled, disappointed, whatever that may be. (McClendon)'s felt that as well and seen it at different angles.
