Matthew Boyd shines again in Tigers' win over Orioles

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Matthew Boyd allowed only a single run in five inning as the Detroit Tigers topped the Baltimore Orioles 7-1 at Ed Smith Stadium Sunday.

In his last two outings, Boyd has allowed only a single run on nine hits in 10 innings. He has struck out nine and not walked a batter.

Boyd is competing against veterans Anibal Sanchez and Mike Pelfrey for the final spot in the Tigers rotation.
