Justin Verlander was going good in his pitcher's duel with Jhoulys Chacin, but he came up on the losing end as a pair of hits to start the eighth inning snowballed on him and allowed the Angels to score the game's only runs.
Verlander and Chacin both took perfect games into the fifth inning, with Chacin taking his into the sixth before Andrew Romine and Ian Kinsler notched back-to-back singles.
The Tigers couldn't take advantage of having two men on base in either the sixth or seventh innings as they lost for the fourth time in five games.
