Former Tiger Pudge Rodriguez awaits Hall of Fame fate

He was a superstar whose arrival in Detroit a dozen years ago signaled the beginning of a baseball renaissance at Comerica Park.

And he was waiting Wednesday, along with much of the baseball galaxy, for word on his and others’ bid to make the 2017 Baseball Hall of Fame class.

Pudge Rodriguez’s fate will be announced at 6 p.m. when results are announced (MLB Network). It is expected two players, Tim Raines and Jeff Bagwell, are nearly certain to have gotten the necessary 75 percent approval on ballots casts by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Rodriguez’s case is less predictable.
