TAMPA – The first ball ricocheted off his glove, and the second nicked away. At face value, it looked like a couple of misplayed baseballs by Steven Moya in rightfield. But the bigger picture showed how far the Tigers’ outfielder has come in a season .
Moya made aggressive moves in back-to-back innings of Tuesday 9-5 loss to the Yankees in the Grapefruit League. He couldn’t quite make the play both times but flashed the confidence that Tigers manager Brad Ausmus has praised this spring.
“I like the way he went after them,” Ausmus said.
