Castellanos' 3-run bomb rallies Tigers past Twins

Minneapolis — We will put the Mike Pelfrey discussion on the backburner for now.

Nick Castellanos took the struggling starter off the hook Sunday, hitting a clutch, two-out, three-run home run in the sixth inning. It was his fourth RBI of the game, erased the 5-2 deficit Pelfrey left, and spurred the Tigers to a series-sweeping 6-5 win over the Twins at Target Field.

The Tigers scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth off reliever Ryan Pressly. Jarrod Saltalamacchia’s two-out double to left field scored Justin Upton from first. Upton hesitated around third and would have had a hard time scoring had shortstop Eduardo Escobar not dropped the relay throw from the outfield.
