As losses mount, Detroit Tigers put their players on the hot seat

CHICAGO – The urgency is evident.

It’s a feeling in the air, a little bit later this May than last. This time, the players are the subject of pressure and not the manager. And that pressure has officially been turned up on these Detroit Tigers.

It was turned up on Friday morning, when MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported that if the Tigers remain under .500 by the end of June – 30 games away – the team would revert to their stance of last off-season, putting all veteran players on the trade block.

Within that message – a wholly unsurprising one, given the Tigers’ current play and future state – was a message from the front office to the team.
