'Today was horrible,' says Verlander, as Indians sweep Tigers, again

All Justin Verlander could do was throw his hands up.

The ball he just threw was in the air, headed over the fence, the fourth ball he threw in the fifth inning that headed over the fence, and the Detroit Tigers’ right-handed ace had no answers.

And for the ninth consecutive game, his teammates didn’t have any answers for the Cleveland Indians, either.

“Sometimes teams have another team’s number,” Verlander said.

And after another loss on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park, 9-3 to the Indians, these are the numbers: The Tigers are 0-9 against Cleveland this year.
