Tigers Rumors: Joakim Soria a top option via trade?

In today's Tigers rumors and news update, one Detroit Tigers blogger has identified Texas Rangers reliever Joakim Soria as the best potential option for Detroit when it comes to improving their bullpen via trade.

Per Max DeMara of Detroit Tigers 101, Soria could represent the best option for any team looking for bullpen help, let alone the Tigers:

Obviously, including the best available name on the market is a must, especially when the Tigers are said to be both interested and scouting Soria. As far as lock-down options go, Soria's likely the best, as he's posted 16 saves with a 2.67 ERA. He also knows the Central Divison, having pitched in Kansas City for the majority of his career. Soria will cost plenty given he has a team option for 2015, but it could be worth it for the Tigers to have quality insurance for Joe Nathan and keep a top addition around for an extra year.

In Soria, there is some flexibility regarding where he could be slotted in a potential acquisition. He has experience in a setup role, therefore keeping pressure from immediately piling on Nathan that would be present if the team acquired a closer such as Jonathan Papelbon or Huston Street.

However, the cost could be driven up by the amount of teams interested - presenting a tough high-cost, high-reward scenario for general manager Dave Dombrowski.
