Tigers News: Detroit Loses Three Pitchers, Signs Four Players To Minor-League Deals

The Detroit Tigers watched three pitchers that played limited roles for the team sign minor-league deals elsewhere, while signing four players to minor-league deals to keep the revolving door moving.

According to Chris Iott of MLive.com, "right-handers Jose Ortega and Justin Miller have signed minor-league deals with the Colorado Rockies, while Kevin Whelan has signed with the Oakland Athletics. Those three each pitched sparingly for the Tigers during the 2014 season."

On the flip side of the ledger, the Tigers signed outfielder Xavier Avery, left-hander Omar Duran, third baseman Jefry Marte, and right-hander Tim Melville to minor-league deals.

All seven of these moves were reported by Baseball America. All but one are currently listed on the MLB.com transactions page.
