It was a season of firsts for Matt Boyd.
The left-hander’s first major league start with the Blue Jays on June 27. His first trade, from Toronto to the Detroit Tigers on July 30. His first time through the ups and downs of extended time in the big leagues.
“It was just very different,” Boyd said recently of last season. “The game’s the same, but everything that comes with it is different, and at times it was overwhelming. But after decompressing and looking back on it, I think it’s going to be a really great opportunity for what’s ahead and absorbing everything and knowing I can handle it.
