DETROIT – The Red Wings made their first player move of this offseason, and it could be a significant one down the road.
Detroit acquired prospect Dylan Sadowy from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for the Wings’ third-round draft pick in 2017.
The 20-year-old left wing has played the past four seasons with the Saginaw Spirit in the Ontario Hockey League. However, in January, Sadowy (SAD-oo-wee) was traded to the Barrie Colts where he finished the season with 55 goals and 70 points in 64 regular-season contests.
The Sharks selected Sadowy in the third round with the 81st overall pick in the 2014 draft.
