Detroit – Tomas Nosek showed in a brief call-up to the Red Wings this past season he’s close to NHL-ready.
On Friday, the Red Wings showed their faith in Nosek signing the center to a two-year contract.
Nosek, 23, had no points in six games with the Red Wings, but showed good penalty-killing skills and appeared close to be ready to hold a third- or fourth-line checking role in the NHL.
Nosek had 15 goals and 15 assists in 70 games with minor-league affiliate Grand Rapids, then added a one point (a goal) in nine American League playoff games.
