While we are currently in the middle of a heat wave here in Motown, Detroit Red Wings fans are already counting down the days until training camp and opening night of the 2016 season. Can the Wings return to the glory years and claim another Stanley Cup in 2017, or will they once again fall short of the ultimate hockey prize?
Just two months ago Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins were crowned champs of the NHL after defeating the San Jose Sharks in six games. The Red Wings finished the 2016 regular season with 93 points, however, they were eliminated 4-1 in their best of seven series in the first round by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
